Signs of Unstable Snow

Did you see shooting cracks?
No
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
Yes, Isolated

Observations

Skied three laps into Cement Basin (2x SE and 1xNE) and one WSW from East Peak. Rain up to ~5K. Wet snow roller balls below 5500'. Wind affected on open slopes.
Ski tests resulted in no shooting cracks or whumpfs. As with Friday, whumpfs were isolated to negligible angle concavities where the crusts settled.

Pit: 6000' SW face of East Peak. Slope slightly wind loaded/ compacted. Multiple crusts (Knife hardness) above the suspected 1/13 interface
HS 160cm
HN ~25cm
CT8 @25cm Q1 sudden collapse under the highest crust in a low density 1cm slab (frazel/stellar crystals)
ECTN 13 @ 25 same interface as CT, progressive collapse.
Strength in the top crust suggest lack of flexing and propogating the weak under in that particular aspect.

Ridgetop winds picked up to S 20 G30 at 1pm. Active snow transport through the day.
