We felt a few, very small whumphs in shaded, open terrain. It was pretty surprising. We dug one pit that showed 3-4 thin ice layers with 1-2cms of loose snow between them, underneath a thick crust which was underneath the 3in of new snow. Crystals were tiny, <1mm, but some showed signs of faceting. My thought was the collapses were on one of these layers.
