Signs of Unstable Snow

Jim Hill via Henry Creek. Widespread surface hoar in sheltered, open terrain over a couple inches of faceted snow over crust that varied from breakable below 5500' to combo of breakable and ski-supportable above. In higher, more exposed terrain between 5500' and 6500' there was no surface hoar but faceted snow over crust still present. Lots of evidence of 1/12-13 avalanche cycle from old debris and crowns.
