Toured up from Switchback trail head to Klahhane Ridge on very firm snow conditions. Ski crampons were needed from the road and the firm snow only got icier with elevation. South slopes have a thick crust over rounding older snow. On north aspects the crust is not as thick, but still quite stout and more icy. Lots of avlanche debris and a few old crowns from slab avalanches were visible in Klahhane Bowl from the ridge. The sun warmed and softened Southern aspects for good riding conditions afternoon, but until we get new snow travel on steep slopes will continue difficult.
