Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Toured from 5400-9000' up the Muir snowfield and down Paradise glacier. Very limited snow transport was observed and isolated almost entirely to >8000' where winds were slightly higher and a small amount of dry snow was available for transport. As expected, stout crusts (lower elevations) and ice (upper elevations) made travel conditions a challenge. Widespread evidence of the recent natural avalanche cycle were observed (see pictures).

Media

Some of the largest cornices I've seen built on the ridge near the Golden Gates.
Lots of debris on and around the Cowlitz glacier.
Pretty icy trip down the Paradise glacier.
