Observations

Saturday 1/9 backpacked in from Narada Falls to the Lane/Denman Saddle and set up camp. Snowshoes were necessary but still considerably challenging due to unconsolidated deep powder. Avoided avy terrain up to saddle. Sun and clouds combo all day. Overnight there was consistent freezing rain. Morning clouds turned to sun for most of day. Mid-morning we snowshoed up towards Lane (SE face) all the while evaluating conditions. Deep, deep snow coupled with the steep grade made us turn around. Shortly after we turned, avy started to commence. Packed up our gear and made the traverse (quickly) across Denman (smaller loose wet slides song the S face looks like they happened at same time on Lane) to Plummer (no avy evidence on Plummer) and back down to car.
