Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Dry Loose (Sluff)
Size:
Size 1: Relatively harmless to people
Elevation:
NTL
Aspect:
NE
Comments:
D1 probably dry loose because top layer was mostly non-cohesive but was hard to tell as wind eroded the slope. By end of the tour, could not see slide path or crown any longer due to wind transport of new snow.

Did you see shooting cracks?
Yes, Isolated
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
No
Dug pit on NE facing slope ~6.5k, just east of summit complex. HS 135cm. Shear test showed planar failure 15cm below surface (dec 21/22 crust) and 55cm below surface (dec 9 crust).
During ECT New snow failed on first crust 15-20cm below surface - CTE4 RP. Next failure came 55cm below surface - CTH28 PC.
Some areas had cohesive wind slabs and others had non-cohesive wind transported snow (that will probably form slabs)
