Dug a test pit to get a baseline of the snowpack. After a quick layer ID, performed a compression test on a 100cm column. CT results were CTE, resistant planar on an interface down 13cm. It was getting dark so my crystal ID was not conclusive, but it looked like angular forms at that 13cm layer, with rounds below and recent storm snow above. Also noted a visible density change within the top 2cm, would have checked for hoar frost if I had more daylight, as there was valley fog in the morning. Observed 5200' on a SSW aspect above the lake.
