Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

We wandered up through the crusty forest today to see what was happening at upper elevations. We observed small point releases on southern aspects at around 5800 ft. On western facing slopes we poked around at the same elevation to find multiple layers within the snowpack, most notably a firm crust 20cm below the supportable crust we were traveling on. We didn’t produce any conclusive results after limited testing due to time.
