Observations

Traversing in downhill mode across a steep, open pitch. Pole punched through as I pushed forward to keep momentum. Approximately 6-10” of new storm snow on top of a thick 1” ice crust. Rotten snow underneath of that. The storm snow was well-bonded to the ice crust - don’t let that give you a false sense of security! Hoping this is a localized problem.
