On an AIARE L 1 : mod snow throughout the day. Heavier snow in the afternoon. Blizzard : whiteout conditions in PM with mod winds with strong gusts out of the south and sustained mod snow transport. Fresh skin tracks revealed cracking in upper snowpack, Evidence of storm slab and some windslab formation In specific areas. Test pits did reveal some Hidden mid-storm instabilities And potential propensity for propagation. at 4800 ft on NE aspect, HS 225 cm:

The Dec 9 th MF was 125cm down. No deep test performed on this interface. A hasty inspection revealed wet grains surrounding the crust and what appeared to me as a favorable structure. This layer could benefit from a little further investigation to rule it out.....
