Spent the morning doing rescue practice at the Alpental beacon park. At 9 am, snow was steady at about S2 (cm) and the temperature was 30F, by noon the temperature had spiked to 36F, and the snow tapered off to about S0.5 (cm). Looking up and across the valley, it appeared that rock face and elevator shaft both slid in the recent past. A quick lap up west on the way home (~noon) proved to be a gloppy mess - if you are looking for powder skiing, the pass might not be the place to go at the moment.
