Pineapple Pass proved to have better -- but still early-season — skiing conditions than expected. Sun and wind protected regions at lower elevations have significant surface hoar on top of a couple of inches rounded snow with a hard crust below. The saddle of Pineapple pass had 5-10mph NE winds with light transport and ~5 inches of rounded snow on top of a hard crust. Wind slab may be present however no signs of instability were witnessed on the N aspect.
Early season conditions still a present challenge. Watch for trees, exposed ground/rock, streams, and difficult terrain.
