We traveled just east of the Summit Central ski area on Sunday. Ski conditions were lousy and anything that hadn’t seen previous compaction was quite grabby. The light rain moistened the upper 5cm of the snow pack but not so much that we observed very many recent roller balls or other major precursors to or actual Loose wet avalanches. We targeted the 11/30 interface which was 15-20cm down just above pass level and 25-30cm down at 3800ft. This interface was easy to spot in the snow pack and provided planner looking results in small slope tests and hand shears and even produced 4x CTH RP/Q2 results down 30cm at 3800ft but we could never get this interface to propitiate outside of our skis in small slop tests and observed 4x ECTX and a PST 92/100 End. We skied several slopes to 35 degrees with no results.
