Observations

Went up Lichtenberg via Smithbrook and Lichtenwasser Lake, skied N aspect then up and down SE ridge of McCausland. Below 4,500' snow was wet even in the shade. Above 4,500' on N aspects we found 6-10" of cold new snow on a crust and great skiing conditions. On S aspects there is a sun crust and more wind-affected snow. Dug a pit on an E aspect at 5,600', HS 160cm, no results on compression test or ECT. Morning clouds then clearing and sunny with high clouds rest of the day. Max 20mph S wind.

Cornices are present but not too large on Lichtenberg. Lichtenwasser Lake was frozen enough to ski across; Lake Valhalla was not completely frozen.
