Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Travelled on a snowy road from 2130' to 3140' E to SE aspects between 9:30 and 11 am. 4 cm NS at 2300' to 9 cm NS at 3140'. HS of 40 cm on shaded portion of road at 3140'. New snow sat on somewhat breakable crust. Boot pen of 22 cm and ski pen of 12 cm. Pleasant travel conditions with skis on the road but obviously not nearly enough snow off the road for ski travel. Temps ranged from 0 to 2 deg C.
