There is not enough snow to ski safely in the basins above Lake Clara yet, but I dug a pit to the ground at elevation 5500 just to see how the snow is stacking up. The location was east facing, 35* slope. Snow depth was 48cm. Isolated column failed on durable crust 4 inches down, but did not slide off the block. When I tipped the block off the ground, it left no snow on the ground, completely clean dirt and hemholtz bed. I was able to slide my fingers under the snowpack in all directions.
