Adding a little piece of info to the most recent submitted public obs from heliotrope ridge - on our way down, just after crossing the widest stream at about 4450', we heard a loud and aggressive hissing noise coming from a nearby hollow log right off the trail. We didn't see what kind of animal it came from and the folks who crossed 10 minutes after us didn't see or hear anything, so it ended fine for everyone involved. But a good reminder that wildlife is out there, even in a place folks might not be thinking about it such as a popular trail like Heliotrope ridge!
