Skinned past Skyline lake to ridge. Traveled on NW-NE, S-SE between 4,000-5,280ft.
We observed 1 small (D1) natural loose avalanche on steep NNW around 5200ft.
Skies were mostly overcast becoming obscured. Wind was calm. No precip up to mid-afternoon.
Height of snow 90-115cm w 85cm of storm snow.
We consistently found a strong-over-weak interface in the storm snow ↓~50cm as well as a thin layer of older weak facets at the Nov 12th interface ↓85cm, just under the storm snow. Test results indicated propagation on Nov 12 FC. See attached profile graph. We experienced a handful of localized to moderate collapses while skinning on both southerly and northerly aspects. Most occurred while near areas of weak snow around vegetation or rocks. We suspect the Nov 12 interface.
Nice first day of the season!
