Observations

Traveled in terrain up to 38 degrees in steepness, generally E and W aspects from 4500 to 6600 ft. Experienced widespread mildly to moderately wind-affected snow near treeline with lower density powder in wind-sheltered locations. A snow pit at 6300 ft on a WSW showed a 35 inch snowpack with 15 inches of storm snow. Three stubborn interfaces within the storm snow did not show a propensity for propagation. Most of the snow in the column exhibited density and good cohesion, but no concerning weak layers were identified. Rounded grains were found at the ground. Snow depths in cement basin generally ranged from 30-45 inches, with increasing amounts toward the ridgeline.
