Observations

Traveled up to the Kendall Peak area via Commonwealth Basin. Excited the top of the Kendall Trees into the open area - sculpted areas from a significant amount of wind. Cut a hasty column on a small convexity above the trees - the column was about 35 cm deep - down to a noticeable crust. The column failed at 20 cm as soon as it was isolated. If we had any thoughts of skiing more open terrain, that put an end to it.

Media

The top of the column is in the lower section of the picture - 20 cm - you can see the smooth surfaces where it failed - sudden planar as soon as the column was isolated.
