Observations

Four of us used snowmachines and one snowbike from Mineral Springs (Hwy 97) to the Red Top Mountain Lookout trailhead. We then snowshoed up to the lookout. On an ESE facing slope that was located just south along the ridge from the lookout there were numerous roller balls and cornices. Elevation of ridge was 5300 feet and the observation time was just before noon. CalTopo indicates the slope angle at greater than 45 degrees.
