Observations

Two avalanches triggered on east aspect above tree line. First was a D1 below Railroad Grade and then this one later in the day. Conditions were 2-3’ of fresh powder and bluebird visibility. This large D2 was on a slope that was wind loaded and the snowmobile was climbing straight out of the bowl at the north end. Slide broke behind the sled and sled/rider were not caught. Had noted small cracks earlier in the day at lower elevation on top of a small knob.
