Since the storm snow came in later than expected, my partner and I toured into the burn just below East Peak. We performed handshears and ski cuts throughout our ascent with unremarkable results. We did see some 1-2 day old debris from wet/loose activity below cliff bands.
We witnessed significant amounts of transport happening due to strong winds. We knew the danger would be increasing as the snow fell so we dug a sloppy pit to check out the 2/3 crust before heading down. The crust easily broke off in chunks as I touched it. We did experience boot penetration to mid thigh where we transitioned.
