Observations

Around 3k the near-surface crust was supportable. By 4k it was thin and soft in the open with 25cm boot pen. Above that we were in trees with frozen tree drip that was annoyingly supportive-breakable in the boot pack. Skiing down was acceptable below treeline. 5-10 cm dry snow over firm crust without much bonding. The incoming precip started at noon with a brief barrage of graupel, then turned to driving snow on a cold wind. Abundant redistribution.
