Wind slabs are starting to form on pan face - S and SW aspects of this face showed cross loading with quick accumulation. Moderate to intense blowing snow and strong winds were experienced at the top of Panorama Point. Winds were calm in lower areas such as Edith Creek and the Paradise lot.
A snow pit dug at the location indicated on the map (~5000 ft) showed the 1/4 buried surface hoar layer consists of rounded grains. See attached photo for annotated snow profile. A compression test at the same location resulted in no fracture.
