Observations

Day 2 of AIARE level 1. Toured up Skyline Road to the south slopes below Skyline Lake at 4,700'.

Dug test profiles--results not very significant, but shovel tilt test revealed a planar layer about 8cm below the surface, above the uppermost thin crust. Had one compression CTH9 RP result which we were not able to replicate just below the Christmas crust, at 55cm. ECTX.

Steady snow throughout the day, S1 in the morning, S2 in the afternoon. Winds light NE in the morning and calm in the afternoon. Temps 27⁰F and below freezing all day.

Ski quality improving throughout the day--short descent was enjoyable.
