Variable wintry mix precip throughout the day and heavy surface snow below 5000'. Winds picked up throughout the day, and NE moderate winds were starting to form wind slabs in the near-treeline zone above 5700'. Observed shooting cracks isolated to recent wind drifts and a 15cm thick windslab release on a small test slope (photo) on a SE aspect at 5800'.
