Observations

Hood River Crags Rats, USAF. PJ team members, & Portland Mtn, Rescue, were conducting rescue and avalanche L2 training this week. While our assessments all week were showing good stability in our training area. The wind exposed portion of the canyon appeared to have different snow quality than the rest of the canyon. Significant winds moved through the canyon despite the prevailing winds on the ridge above. While ski cutting the river side wall, a small wind slab was triggered.
