A small soft slab avalanche was triggered when descending off of Platinum Peak on the west facing slope just North of Ted’s Buttress in the crystal backcountry. The avalanche was about 1-2 ft deep, about 40 ft wide, and about 50-60 ft long, and it stopped in a small basin.

Observations

A small soft slab avalanche was triggered when descending off of Platinum Peak on the west facing slope just North of Ted’s Buttress in the crystal backcountry. The slope was very affected by wind. No one was injured. The avalanche was about 1-2 ft deep, about 40 ft wide, and about 50-60 ft long, and it stopped in a small basin.
