Skinned up the county line towards diamond head with the Christmas crust covered by 4-6 inches of fresh dry snow which was moderately well bonded to the crust. At the steepening to Diamond Head the fresh snow was removed by wind with areas of drifted snow extremely firm and in places slabs 12-18 inches thick, none showed significant signs of instability. The west face of Diamond head remains wind scoured with exposed boulders, so we skied the fresh dry snow on the crust down through Swauk Meadows. Early season hazards remain a significant concern with rocks and deadfall impeding travel
