At 3,400’ on a north facing aspect we dug a pit. We found 30cm of new snow that was fist firm. Below that was 10 cm of knife firm snow which was supported by 60 cm+ of four finger firm snow. The top layer of snow would fracture at the crust but fractures did not propagate.
The snow was general wet and we found all layers to be a uniform 0 degrees Celsius.
Weather was warmer than expected and we saw trees shedding snow throughout the day.
