Signs of Unstable Snow

Did you see shooting cracks?
Yes, Isolated
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
No

Observations

I observed variable wind gusts from 15-30 at 4000-4500' which created massive snow drifts and affected the surface slab conditions. As I approached the lake the winds died and the snow was much more un-consolidated powder.

Advanced Observations

Observed Avalanche Problem #1:
Wind Slab
Comments:
I observed a windslab on the walk up from the parking lot in the bare switchbacks. I dug a quick hand pit to observe a couple wind slab 5-15cm thick. I wasn't able to kick off any movement in micro terrain steeps, and nothing moved on the way down. But winds were persistent in the valley opposite the ski resort.
