Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

As part of AIARE-1 group, followed the traditional uptrack path to Source Lake on snowshoes. There was light to moderate snow, 1-1.5” accumulation between 9am to 3pm. No wind, light gusts on path. Wind transport observed at ridge lines in the afternoon. Dug at 3750 feet in elevation on west facing aspect around noon. Height of snow was 170cm. We didn’t have significant results in our test pit but did see collapse in the new snow interface above the recent crust.
