Observations

I took a short walk and drive around the Clear Lake, Rimrock Lake, and N Fork of the Tieton River areas today to look at snow depths. Under tree canopy, snow depths were pretty minimal between 3000-3500 ft. Only about 12-18in of snow on the ground. In more open areas, the depth increased to 18-30in. Rocks, stumps, downed logs, and bushes still make travel more challenging at lower elevations. I did not notice a marked increase in snow depth until above 4500ft or so.

Thin snow cover under the forest canopy made travel tricky
Steeper shaded slopes looked inviting but were still relatively thin (~2ft of snow).
Rocky areas are very thin.
