Observations

Found the buried surface hoar about 20’ down from the ridge line in an open area beyond the trees on Pea Gravel Ridge, E aspect, 6020’.

Surface hoar was 40 cm down and failed on the 5th tap from the wrist in a compression test. Shear quality Q3/progressive compression. Did not pop out and did not reveal itself in a shovel tilt test.

No whumpfing or shooting cracks observed on the tour.

Skied the trees between ~5700 and ~5200, where no reactivity was observed, even on steep rollovers.
