Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Travelling along the ridgetop I noticed a slide on a north aspect. The crown was about 20 inches. I had just dug a pit on the same aspect about 1/4 mile away and observed the hoar frost weak layer 50 cm down. This would correspond with where the avalanche broke from. Doing a column test in the snow pit, it failed after 3 wrist taps on that weak layer 50 cm down.
