Observations

Took a mid-day trip up to Tye Peak via the Skyline Trail. I was looking for snow coverage and any wind transported snow. No evidence of recent avalanches noted. Frequent pinwheels and large tree bombs noted at lower elevations near Hwy 2 noted.

Snow below 5200ft on every aspect was very heavy with evidence of multiple days of freeze/thaw. Frequent snow bombs from trees and rooflines were noted.

Snow above 5200ft was less dense with a approximately 8cm crust noted on top. The previous nights hoarfrost was significant with the north and east aspects having the most. North and east aspects had persistent hoarfrost well into the afternoon.

No evidence of recent wind transported snow found on any aspects, including exposed ridgelines.

The biggest hazards noted was exposed creeks and very deep tree wells with minimal coverage.
