Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

No signs of instability on Eastern aspects; chalky, wind-affected snow above treeline, soft below (getting heavier throughout the day). Hand shears resulted in sudden, clean breaks on Western aspects ~40 cm down on 40º slopes. Exit gully was wack -- literally! Needs a little more cover to get the alders down.
