Observations

Traveled to right above Edith Creek, on a ridge that's between the Golden Gate trail and Skyline trail.
281 WNW aspect
28 degree slope
225cm HS
80cm foot penetration
On a column test, CT3 produced an easy collapse about 10cm down and CT9 produced another about 40cms down.
Shovel shear test produced a 40cm Q1 SC.

Lots of trees have very little snow on the side that faces east. With moderate easterly winds, all on that snow is being transported elsewhere and lots of wind slabs being produced. Lots of surface hoar everywhere.

Media

Pretty deep snowpack even when testing it with a ski pole.
Found quite a few layers in the wall of the pit and yet pretty right side up. There's a big wind chill due to easterly winds so the surface is has a bit of a temperature differential between it and the buried layers. There's definite consolidation below 60cms.
Lots of moderate easterly wind so a lot of texturing and loading.
A collapse 40cm during a shovel shear test.
80cm foot penetration!
