Observations

Short ski tour primarily on roads and marked nordic ski trails in Tronsen non-motorized area at Blewett Pass between 3.9k and 4.5k (northerly aspects). Observed isolated, small dry loose avalanches on steep slopes adjacent to HWY 97 during drive up (southbound). Skies were broken and I saw the sun a good portion of the time I was out (~9:30am to noon), temps in the 20s. I did not travel in avalanche terrain, but I did experience widespread whumpfing while breaking trail up a seasonal creek bed on a N/NW aspect. Quick hand pit revealed right-side up storm snow (~40 cm) over weak, sugary snow near the ground.
