Observed Avalanches

Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Wet Loose
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
6000+
Aspect:
N
Comments:
We've renamed Silver Basin / Southback area to the avalanche amphitheater. When we arrived at the bottom of Three Way at ~10:30am, the entire area was sliding. We witnessed a dozen avalanches and heard more throughout the day. It moved quicker on the steeper slopes above 6k, but was all relatively slow moving. That said, the debris pile we checked out had some large car-sized pieces. I would definitely not want to get caught up in that. Staying below 6k was the move today.
