Size 1: Relatively harmless to people
Elevation:

Comments:
Lots of roller balls/pinwheels in the gullies below 7k on St Helens. Watched someone set off point-release slides of D1-D1.5 from the ridge skiers’ left of the Swift glacier, but didn’t get any pics.

Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

The snow on the lower mountain was trap-crust in the morning, but sun turned it isothermal. Ski penetration was 3-4” and made for a challenging 1000’ or so until we were on the track out. We were kicking off roller balls on every turn, but nothing compared to the person who tried the ridge above us. Glad they found a safer way down by traversing onto a lower-angle. I didn’t get any good pics of the slides they kicked off.
