Difficult travel yesterday on snowshoes since the new snow is undergoing a major spring transition and a lot of the untouched snow in the leeward sides was deeper wind fetch. I was sinking in ~3” per step on the way up and down in snowshoes.
The base was solid above 4k’, but the surface layer was slide prone/rollerball prone, like I noted before.
Definitely made for interesting snowshoe skiing conditions, which was a not so great thing yesterday. Thankfully I wasn’t near any terrain traps, like creeks, where I slid as I went about 50’ at most downhill easily, entraining surface snow as I went downhill.
