Observations

Planned on skiing Ellinor chute but decided to descend via the summer trail chute due to extensive wet loose avy debris in the winter route chute. Despite mostly cloudy weather, the weather was very warm and caused rapid softening of the snow. Ankle-deep boot penetration occurred by 10am. On the descent, we found a consistent supportable crust ~5” below the surface. All slough that we triggered slid down to this layer, and we saw some slab-like cohesion of the wet upper layer. We saw lots of roller balls and widespread avy debris on the south faces. We also saw wind loading on both sides of the summit ridge
