Observations

Traveled in BTL N facing terrain from Heather Meadows as low as 3100'. We found dry snow at all elevations in the morning (there was 4" of light dry snow on the road which made for a slippery drive). Moderate showers through the morning gave way to sun breaks. The snow became heavy in solar aspects by afternoon but was still dry on N aspects. We found 4-8" of snow above a ski-supportive crust under the tree canopy. There was easily 8-16" of snow above the crust in open areas. No signs of instability in the BTL except for the chance of loose-wet in the sun. Winds did not seem to have made it to low elevations. Snow bridge creek crossings close to melting out.
