Early conditions were consistent with the forecast, but as the winds transported snow we noticed wind slabs forming on leeward aspects. At first they were very thin at less than a half inch. By noon we saw thicker slabs forming and observed them on N and NW aspects in hand pit tests. One hand pit above Cheap Date showed a solid slab 6”+ thick forming. Below the road cuts above the Huntoon drop in for Swift Creek we observed shooting cracks from skis approximately 6-8 feet of propagation. Smaller shooting cracks were observed skinning out to Austin Pass under 1.5’.
