Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Toured in Crystal backcountry today, up boundary basin. No signs of instability, variable surface depending on aspect, but N facing aspects still held dry snow. Anything on solar aspects had softened significantly by noon. No new avalanches seen.
Weather was sunny, mid 30s.
Dug a profile at 5600ft, HS 205cm. Compression test failed on the crust layer down 20cm (CTH), but was difficult to trigger.
