Comments:
Appeared to be present for maybe a week or so at most, the trail went over it. It was small yet would likely injure someone caught in it. The snow was beginning to melt/become wet by sundown and refroze a few hours into the night.
Did you see shooting cracks?
No
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
Yes, Isolated
Hiked the Snow Lake Trail, began at sundown. The temperature was high enough to make the top of the snow wet. On the return trip the snow was beginning to refreeze. Turned around shortly after where the trail to Source Lake begins due to terrain hazards associated with the snow and angle. Passed through multiple avalanche chutes, saw a couple areas that had small slides. Unknown if they were natural or caused by people.
