Observations

We did a morning lap to sample the classics on east Skyline. Snow at the top on the W side of the ridge was obviously scraped and we encountered less than awesome skinning on our way to pt 5447. We chose to do a short shot to see if conditions were worth a drop to the West. The first 30 feet are forgettable but dropping out of the wind effect areas was great but...

It's deep on leeward slopes! East slopes have a lot of deposition that is unconsolidated and significantly deeper than similarly angled open terrain on the west. Moonlight main was 50-80 cm deep and we did not hear or feel any crust until we entered thicker trees below 4400ft.

Actively snowing through the whole tour including a brief round of graupel. Estimated 1.5 inches over 3 hours.

Media

No slab in sight on low angle skiing.
Snow was ~22in/55.8cm at 4650 in the Moonlight basin on a ~28° slope.

Advanced Observations

Observed Avalanche Problem #1:
Dry Loose
Comments:
We experienced lots of dry loose snow that was unconsolidated and moving on steeper slopes from W - NE at Ridgeline. Coverage on W - NE varied from 10-60 cm at ridge line and we could slough snow on mostly shallower, steeper areas. Size - small, likelihood - possible. Surface to 30cm, new storm snow.
